Position Title: Financial Analyst I

The Breakdown: 

The Financial Analyst role is a key part of the Americas finance team that has an active involvement in driving sales and profitability as well as providing financial support to key business partners.  The Americas finance team works cross functionally with various departments to provide guidance regarding strategic business decisions.  This includes financial forecasts, management reports, monitoring key performance indicators, as well as general ad hoc reporting.  This position requires strong analytical skills, a superior attention to detail, high proficiency level with Microsoft Excel, ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, and strong inter-personal communication skills.

What You Get to Do (other duties may be assigned):

  • Analyze & report monthly financial results, including the interpretation of current month performance as a tool for predicting and making suggestions for future results
  • Identify and communicate risks or opportunities to the forecasts & use predictive models to improve business decisions across the Americas region
  • Work cross functionally to understand sales trends, monitor performance marketing spends, optimize shipping methods, assess discount rates across channels & other ad-hoc projects
  • Develop and track sales targets across multiple channels, categories & territories
  • Assist Americas Finance leadership with annual budgeting, quarterly forecasts & long-term planning
  • Partner with the Americas Merchandising team to ensure product level forecasts tie into long term plans and align with marketing campaign spends
  • Partner with territory business managers to annually evaluate sales programs for the wholesale channel
  • Manage SG&A forecasts by monitoring plan vs actual performance and working closely with budget managers to understand variances
  • Maintain and improve financial models to ensure accurate & timely outputs
  • Support regional leaders in deriving financial impacts of business decisions, as well as risks and opportunities
  • Assist with reconciliations
  • Build management level reporting to support not only the Americas Finance team but leaders at various levels and disciplines within the Burton corporation
  • Review and analyze cost variances to inform decision making around allocating expenses from the balance sheet to the P&L related to inventory, inbound freight, and duty
  • Build reserves at fiscal year end and work closely with our external auditors to supply and review necessary documentation to support our entries
  • Perform ad hoc analysis as needed

What You'll Bring to The Team:

  • Relevant four-year business degree or equivalent experience (3 years’ experience preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
  • Experience with SAP & Business Intelligence or similar ERP preferred
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to timelines
  • High level of attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be open to learning
  • Must be able to prioritize several different responsibilities while maintaining a keen focus on details and hitting deadlines
