Position Title: Art Director

External Description:

The primary focus of the Head of Consumer Direct Creative role is to bring Burton’s creative vision to life across the Consumer Direct business. That requires implementation of all concepts and activations across our eCommerce and Retail network globally. This position will closely partner with Burton’s global Marketing, Planning, and Operations team (MPO) and Brand Creative team on developing a holistic visual direction and user experience direction for Burton’s consumer journey across, multiple platforms. In addition, the Head of Consumer Direct Creative will support the Marketing, Planning, and Operations (MPO) team in creating global guidelines for Consumer Direct, our regional creative talent, and potential agency partners.

The Head of Consumer Direct Creative Direction will report directly to the VP of Global Consumer Direct and work closely with executive and regional teams.

 What You Get to Do:

  • Own brand execution for our Consumer Direct organization globally, including eCommerce, Digital platforms, and Retail stores
  • Bring to life our channel, product, and brand stories, and new features and functionality across the Consumer Direct organization
  • Be the voice for the creative strategy from concept to completion for the Consumer Direct organization to the broader Brand Creative and Marketing, Planning, and Creative teams (MPC)
  • Constantly elevate brand and quality perception with consistency across all customer touch points online and in store
  • Lead team of designers, copywriters and production artists to develop comprehensive creative campaigns that are scalable, flexible, and communicate in contemporary and provocative ways
  • Help the team create digital assets that meet the technical requirements of digital design, while using all brand elements—typography, layout, color, iconography illustrations, messaging and photography
  • Partners on interface designs and visual hierarchy, design language, visual assets, and presentation materials for all owned channels of the business
  • Work cross functionally with UX and Development to constantly deliver content needs in addition of current work
  • Bridge gap between brand and commerce through compelling creative that both represents Burtons unique look/tone/voice and drives sell through of key product categories
  • Develop quarterly creative/design concepts aligned to a rolling 12-month calendar that meet the business objectives of the organization and that advance our eCommerce, Digital, and Retail creative
  • Partner with MPO and Brand creative organization to provide direction for action, lifestyle and studio photo/video shoots around the globe partnering with world class photographers and filmers. Work with athletes, ambassadors and members of the Burton community to bring the brand to life through inspiring visuals
  • Define and iterate on basic digital creative standards such as style guides, asset production, and UI best practices
  • Partner with agency and partner producers to ensure high quality processes and outcomes
  • Remain current on industry trends and technology

 What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • 10+ years of experience in a global design or digital job
  • Experience building or leading global work and creative assets across multiple platforms and production values
  • Understanding of entire creative process from kickoff to launch.
  • Understanding of main creative functions in a project from Arti Direction to UX / UI.
  • Familiarity with an agile development and creative process.
  • Experience leading large scale, multi-faceted, multi-platform digital experiences
  • Communication, presentation, and budget management expertise
  • Leading edge understanding of production landscape
  • Fluent in new design tools
